West Van Native Plant Habitat
This 21,000 square foot West Vancouver garden was built in conjunction with the construction of the house. To address the property grade, we installed basalt steps to transition between each garden zone. The landscape features a variety of plant palettes, with a focus on creating native habitats. A woodland area and birch grove were incorporated, showcasing woodland-edge plants like dogwood, goldenrod, aster, and yarrow. A sizable vegetable garden was included to provide seasonal produce for the family of four year-round. The design prioritizes a largely evergreen native plant landscape, complemented by deciduous trees and other elements to ensure year-round interest, including Saskatoon berry, paper birch, bleeding heart, oceanspray, ninebark, and flowering currant.
